Girls The Wilds

Manhwa: Basically can be considered manga originating from Korea.

Girls The Wilds

Oooohhhhhhhhh yeeeeaaaaaaaaaa...

Im going to be lazy with this one, so bear with me. Ok, this is a web comic so expect some long page scrolls (some sites split it up), like Noblesse. The story is fun, creative and though it lacks a bit of substance, this is a great story that I thoroughly enjoyed all the way through its currently released chapters. I love the characters, and the brash crazy mix of personalities which is what I think makes this manga so great. The main character isn't what you might expect either, and it doesn't ALWAYS follow the cliche drift of anime story telling, though it does at times, which is what makes me so happy when reading it. It feels fresh, it feels new, and it feels amazing.

The story is about your average guy (though as we come to find out is talented) who, abandoned by his parents and raising his two younger siblings, is given the chance to attend a high school close to where he lives on a full scholarship (yea, sounds dubious to you to huh?). So whats the catch? The school is an all girls school and he would be the first (and only) male student to attend. This alone would have been fine, but its also a school known for its martial arts as many of the students are long standing champions, trophy winners, and tournament participants. He of course says yes, as his tuition will be paid for and he could save a lot of money this way. The story continues to get better as the Principle of the school sets into action a scheme that has all the girls "noticing" him. Soon your following him in his assorted adventures befriending girls, and making enemies. In later chapters it tends to focus a lot less on the MC and more on the girls he meets and their lives.

Warframe: Archwing

Archwing is nice part of Warframe that brings ninjas to space, and straps deadly jet packs to their backs. The Archwing modes are very different, it doesn't matter what frame you take (at least right now) what matters is what Archwing you choose, as you dont use Warframe abilities, but instead get unique abilities from the Archwing. Admittedly this makes Archwing detached from the rest of the game, and feels apart from regular Warframe.

This might be changed when they introduce dual mode missions, where you switch from Archwing combat to Warframe combat (yes they said this is coming). With that update we all hope for some Warframe to Archwing integration so that it matters what frame we take with us.

What Archwing Do I Prefer?

Itzal, the clan research Archwing, its a fast (tele) close combat Archwing, which goes well with melee (which is the most powerful attack type in Archwing missions so far).
Theres also the fact that Itzal can go invisible which is perfect for those tight situations or healing a teammate. The tele makes capturing points super quick, and getting to a downed ally quick as well.
Mind you, you do need to constantly move around, dont ever stand there, and also get use to maneuvering in strange ways as to avoid missiles. Such maneuvering can also be beneficial when trying to close the space between enemies oddly spaced about.

At the end of the day, I just love zipping around at high speeds.

Hemlock Grove

Yea, thats a human arm coming out of that wolf being RIPPED in two.

Truly the most original concepts for werewolves and vampires I have ever seen, and the production/special effects sells it really well. The brutality of these races (in different ways of course) is shown in this tv series like you have never seen them before. Not only do you deal with these races though, there are others, and some magic. Its the best vampire/werewolf tv series to come out, face it Teen wolf is laughably childish, vampire diaries is as well, and the one series that had something going for it "The Originals" could be better (though I do like the originals). This is a dark, ADULT oriented, gore fest horror series, there are no trifle crushes, or high school love crap here.

Werewolves

Our werewolf MC, changing into wolf form.

These are my favorite werewolves since Wolf Lake. Remember that all to well known version of werewolves transformation where they physically shape shift into a half-man half-beast monster? Well this series said fuck that, and went the route of total mind fuck and full wolf (full wolf like Wolf Lake did). The transformation in this series is so primal and you see the skin being ripped off, and torn apart, and in the end, that bad ass wolf (human in full control btw) eats his human skin. Theres not much so far about wolf packs or wolf organization in the series, I imagine we will see more of that in season 3.

Vampires (Upir)

She is Upir, her son just ripped her tongue out with his teeth and said "You talk to much".

No doubt, if the werewolves sounded like your kind of thing, you will love the vampires in this series (known as Upir). They dont just eat blood, but human flesh as well. The vampires we meet so far are trying to develop a means of an easy access no fuss food source, the church has even been allowing it (they kill all things monster apparently or something). But theres so much more going on, so much more awesome to the whole story.

Whats even better about this series is how much like anime it is, theres no inherently good/evil person or organization. Sure one of our main characters doesn't really kill innocents, but he also just doesn't give any fucks. The church is clearly, when you watch the series, NOT the "good" guys as it were, they are fucked up in their own ways. Then theres the Upir, which when you think about it just want to live in peace, so they are trying to develop a none "kill everything you eat" approach to feeding. Sure theres a few bastards here and there that I wish would fucking die because I hate their guts, and sure they have done some evil shit (that mother). But honestly when I think about their position I can understand.

WATCH THIS SHOW DAMN IT!

Kuiba

Our hero in the middle of his great triumph.
You are probably as skeptical as I was when I heard "Chinese anime", if not more so, but don't let that hold you back. Kuiba is an amazing movie, it has what you crave, an adorable main character to love, a hidden past, end of the world possibilities, futuristic SciFi as well as ancient time lines, a relationship built on love, and finally it doesn't go to far.

-STORY-

Our story is about a man (Kuiba) who sparks a rebellion against the gods (super tech guys), however our story starts long after his rebellion failed (they satellite nuked him). Our main character is a little boy, who is training to be a warrior to fight Kuiba (who is thought to have survived). The governments are calling warriors to gather to fight. Its a fun adventure that stops before the war nicely (don't worry, there are two sequals to continue the story).

-ART-

This movie seems to be a CG movie in an anime style, it looks very nice, lots of color and creative designs. This is not a dark art style, everything is well lit with lots of light.

-SOUND-

This is not my first Chinese movie,or my second or even my third, so the spoken language did not bother me much. I loved the music, it was loud and actions when needed, while still keeping up with the slower smoother paced music needed for the heart tug moments.

-Characters-

This story is being told across three different movies, so don't expect to fall for half the characters. In this first movies you will love and feel close to at least four characters, each one is unique and interesting, and I can't wait to see more of them.

-ENJOYMENT-

Laughter, tears, and hysterical "oh, shits" followed me through this movie, I love it and want every one todo the same.

I must warn you, the second Kuiba movie has been out for a while now, but there is still no English subtitles out there for it. If on wrong the for the love of god correct me.

Mabinogi: Music

Yes, horrible quality, but still sounds beautiful (damn I need to get myself a piano in mabinogi).

In mabinogi, one of the greatest, most amazing things, is that you can compose music and play it in game (even in a band). Seriously, people often recreate popular songs in game, easy enough to just google, then copy and paste to make it in game. Music is not just in the game, its an actual form of combat type you can choose and rank up, it has many nice support skills and a few attack skills.

Theres also singing in the game, but I mostly stay clear of that crap, it sounds horrible, I have yet to find anything that sounds good with the singing system.

This is not a tutorial or a guide, just a peek into music in mabinogi, however for those looking to compose in mabinogi I point you towards here.

For most people though I don't recommend trying to compose, as it mostly just sounds bad, but I do suggest just finding a song you like here or here.

Warframe

"Please stay calm and avoid any sudden moves that might frighten the hamsters." -Red Text

You may of heard of warframe, its the coop mmorpgtps that people often refer to as "a better version of destiny", or "what destiny should have been". Just to clear up some thoughts people often have, Warframe has been in beta for years, it has been around since before destiny.

I love Warframe, it has thousands of gameplay hours, many different game play modes (including pvp arena, hijack, defense, survival, sabotage, data retrival, excavation, assassination, void missions, nightmare missions, alerts). There are tons of weapons, warframes (suits, they are basically equipments like weapons), mods (modifications to equipments).
Theres so much to do its crazy, not to mention there are like 13 planets, lots of areas, and the areas are dynamic (they are a tile based system so the same area is never the same).

The game is updated weekly, huge game change updates once a month, lots of DEV streams where the developers talk to the community and discuss whats coming while answering questions.

The Devstreams are live on twitch.tv/warframe. This is the Youtube playlist for Devstreams.

-Nodes-

View of planet Ceres in navigation console.

There are many different planets in the solar system you can navigate. Each one looks like this (pic above) with many "nodes" or areas you can play. Each one may have different levels, game mode, enemy type (see section below), and each use the tile set of Ceres, making them seem similar while still being different. Tile sets from planet to planet differ greatly, or are suppose to, as of this point they dont have tile sets for each planet yet, they are working on it though (earth has a jungle set, another planet ice based, and now a water based tile set).
Nodes can also host nightmare missions (a harder version of a normal node), mission/quests, and syndicate missions (not mentioned in this review, as there is so much to warframe that theres much left out of this review).

-Enemies-

Corpus

"Drench them in water I say! In Water!!"

They favor long-medium range attacks, but most annoying are the anti-power types this race has. The anti-power type mob has a type of bubble extended around them and nearby allies, which prevents your abilities and damage from reaching them, it also negates abilities so they do nothing. Dealing damage takes the bubble down, or you can get dirty and close with melee in the bubble. This race is the tech race, lazers, electricity, robots, robots, robots, they also have my favorite tile sets.
Infested

"These guys provoke an irresistible urge to poke."

I love these little critters, and not so little critters. They favor melee combat, but there are some medium range types thrown in, also higher levels have auras which really fuck you up. Those auras can go from energy drain, to heal allies to toxin, and so on. Other races have auras as well, but I feel like infested have more, alot more. Obviously these guys are the biological weapon types, you know, the whole weapons made of fleash types.

Grineer

"Effing bleed toting turtles"

These guys are the most annoying for me, partly because of bleed damage (health drain over time) but also because I just dont like their ugly faces or design ideas. They are the human (or most human) race, they actually live through cloning. Their maps have tons of pipes and such, almost steam punk like race, but more "grimy". These guys are the projectile based weapons enemy, missles, bullets, and the like.

Tenno

"Oh crap, am I a girl? A boy? Oh god, oh god, oh god..."

This is the race the players play as, we know a little bit about them and where they get there tech (another ancient race that died out), but not much about who we are. Anyway, we make use of all races tech, plus our own, as you may already know (and should) the "warframes are the main tech of this race, they are suits you can wear giving you super abilities. We also get our own dojos (clan halls) that we build to our likeings (adding rooms) which includes adding research rooms to research and build tech not in the shop.

There have also been rumors of a fifth race (or fourth enemy race), some details have been released via devstreams and events, but nothing that really tells us anything. Cant wait to see what they are, and start customizing my weapons to destroy them.

-Equipment-

Weapons store front.

There is a ton of equipment in this game, guns or all kinds plus bows, swords, daggers, cross bows, axes, whips, hammers, gun sword, and they just keep adding more as they get more ideas. But the fun doesnt end there, theres also tons of warframes (and more being added all the time), I think around 20 or more so far, and more planned. Warframes are not just the same thing with different skin or different visual, their abilities are very different, one might create a bubble to protect anyone in it (snow globe), while anothers ultimate ability may lift everything up around you and slam it into the ground (reckoning), and yet another will spread out and slow down enemies while increasing damage done to them AND causing them to explode on death and deal damage to others (allowing for huge chains of explosions from one kill), and way way way more. And thats just the ultimates, warframes have four, 4, FOUR abilities, and with mods (see customizaion below) you can change them to act differently or reduce one part of it (like range) in exchange for greater duration or strength.
Annnnnnnd the fun still doesnt end. They also have Archwing, a different form of battle (open space battles with jetpacks) with different abilities and mods, and they are adding sharkwing (name may change on release) like archwing but underwater battling. Oh, then theres the sentinels and kubrows, which are pets, sentinels are techy, while kubrows are...well they are dogs. Theres so much to this game, I mean seriously, so so so much to this game, and they keep adding more.

-Customization-

Customizing your stuff is awesome in warframe. From mods that augment your weapon, adding damage, fire, ice, electric, toxin, or even combos of these adding up to corrosive, viral, radiation and more, all with their own unique procs, all the way to increasing range, or clip size and so much more. Then you get to color the shit out or your stuff, all kinds of colors all kinds of combos and you can add accessories. They even added a type of "tattoo" now that you can put on your warframe, some change colors depending on different conditions, other glow, some show something different depending on your rank. Warframe is a great game for showing off individuality, I never see people looking like me, and when I do it takes only one sec to change things. They have bobble heads for your ship, capes for your warframe, parts (wings, tail, face) for your sentinel and they even added arrow skins recently. It never ends.

Bottom line, Warframe is F2P game, with more content then most pay to play games, and you can get everything in game (you can trade the IRL money currency ingame) and they dont do P2W period. So theres no guilt in giving it a try.

Mabinogi

"Mabinogi has ruined other mmorpgs for me."

This game is old, old enough I even played it in high school. It also happens to STILL be the best MMORPG out there, and its F2P. Why the best you ask? Oh, its nothing much, just its constant updates, events, unique combat system, great shop system, fun social interactions, TONS OF APPEARANCE ITEMS (im not fing joking here, theres no two characters that look alike, hell I rarely see two people wearing the same shit), its unique lvl system, unique skill system (including life skills, which can lvl you as fast if not faster than combat), make your own music and... oh god, just play the game already.

I get bored of Mabinogi, no doubts there as I get bored of anything after a while, and I just keep coming back to it. I have played tons of other mmorpgs, iv tried tera, iv tried vindictus (mabinogi heros btw, its a sequal to mabinogi), iv watched reviews on rift, so on so forth. The fact is
Mabinogi has ruined other mmorpgs for me.
. WHY? Because I cant stand just clicking on stuff anymore, like ruinscape or wow, or almost every damn stupid MMORPG out there (notice, i said almost, ha). I mean it, Mabinogi has so much to do and so many unique interesting systems and parts, theres nothing else out there that comes close.

Combat

So I now skip any game where the combat is "click on this mob", "click on these skill boxs" repeat. In mabinogi the combat is not super fps action, but is a clever change to the standard mmo, many call it a rock paper scissors type system, but thats not right, as there are far many more ways to fight then that entails. Abilities/skills are target based, you can lock on, but many abilities will still need to be with in range. Plus lock on is more for convince because as the mob moves around you might find it hard to click as you move to dodge it. Its hard to explain, but I think you get by now that its pretty interesting.

World

I also cant stand linear games anymore, games that force you to certain areas using their various tricks (mob levels, level requirements, etc.). In mabinogi you can, at lvl one, right as you enter the world, GO ANYWHERE, jump over to the other continent, go site seeing on a hot air balloon (yea, not joking), or poke fun at a elephant. Yes, there are strong creatures out there, but its not like endless fields of monsters where YOU MUST run into them to get past, the mabinogi world is super huge, and open. Best I can compare it to is skyrim or oblivion in terms of openness (and yes, even size its close). Also its not like the only monsters you can fight are in area, there are strong AND weak mobs all over the world, its made for exploration for any level. The world is filled with dungeon instances, open world mobs, theres shadow missions, castles, residential areas (where players have houses) and TONS to discover and explore.

Leveling

Now lets get the leveling system of mabinogi, which is one of the most unique systems ever. There is no level cap. None, nada, nothing. The sky is not the limit. Mabinogi has a rebirthing system, where you can, every week, have your character reborn to reset the level, oh and age (yes, your character ages, and visually gets taller and bigger as they grow). So what does this do? Each level nets you some AP, which is your skill points. These points are used to level a skill. You can rebirth any number of times (im on like 40 now and level 2000 or so). OHHHH, but wait, you cant level them till you train them!

Skills

Skills do not simply get better because you leveled up and put points into it. Instead its a fun system like skyrim or oblivion where you must use the skill, but they make it even better. Lets say you are ranking defense (its a skill, there is a def stat but this is kinda like a defense stance your taking), it will say something like "defend against 10 melee attacks" for the lowest rank or something. As you rank it, it will start adding in "defend against 10 arrow attacks" then magic, then some other stuff like attacking a defending creature, and even require you to do all those things but with stronger monsters. Now when you start ranking stuff like sword wielding you can kinda understand what that means. Also, combat is not everything in mabinogi, its a small part. There are TONS of non combat skills, and as you rank them, you gain stats (you gain stats with combat skill ranking to), these stats can boost your character! However it gets even better, just like the open world, your skill system is open, there are no classes!

Classes

Yea, yea, i just said there are no classes, and that true, but they did add in destiny's. A destiny can be chosen each time you rebirth, so you can switch every week, so no worries. A destiny is not a class per say, it does not force you to use certain skills, or block others from you. All it does is give you double training rate for skills associated to a set destiny, so you have to do half the work ranking those skills. Now remember those life skills I talked about before? Well, there are destiny's for life skills to, in fact there are a lot. They are not bundled with combat skills or anything like that, you have to understand life skills are as important as combat in this game. Also, yes life skills will give you exp and level you just as well as combat could.

Quests

Quests, again, are like everything else in Mabinogi, open and free. The starter quests are your standard quests, run here do that, run here do that, do this, do that. The main story quests are great, and they come in whats called Generations. These generations also happen to be big updates to the game. Each generation is different, though a few are linked together. Like there are generations that deal with Shakespeare and his plays, generations that deal with the history of different NPCs. Generations where you fight dragons, ones where you fight the grim reaper, ones where you face off against gods. This game has it all. Theirs not just the main story's quests, theirs side quests, hunt quests, and many others you can find, including skill quests to unlock certain powerful skills, like a transformation skill that can turn you into a Black knight, or a paladin for a time, with huge increases to stats and special skills.

Equipment

YESYESYESYES! Open and free system for equipment. With the exception of a few cloths/armor/weapons that require you to master a set skill set (like warrior, or archer) you can equip anything, even if you are not using that destiny, it doesn't matter. There are no level requirements, or stat restrictions, you can start the game and day one have a friend hand you a super powerful weapon. But I must add, even that weapon wont help you as a lvl 1 noob. Your skills and knowing how to use them determine your strength more than anything. Most people don't wear armor except if they have a set that looks good, or are going into hardcore combat. Most people enjoy looking stylish and unique. I love this game a lot for its fashion, theirs so much that everyone looks special. You can even pick your friend out of a crowed without seeing their name.

Shops

There is no world auction house crap here (seriously the stupidest thing ever created). Here we have people actually setting up a square area in a town and putting their items up for sale. To find something you want you will have to go around the market and search (or be lucky and have a friend who frequents the market place). Its so fun to fine amazing deals, or find rare items this way. There is an auction board (and people selling using party system) but its best to go through shopping areas instead, as the prices tend to be lower.

Theres so much to this game, and I cant go through it all, seriously, this is not everything that is unique about this game.

--------------------
2017 update
--------------------
The game was great, the game was awesome, the game was love. However the game is constantly updating to become whats considered "modern" more and more. Which means making players more and more OP, making less lore content and more wtf content, removing the social feel by making it "solo friendly", and making pretty much all social content alllmmmmooosttt pointless (see crafted materials/lifeskilling).... There is a private server out there, which is running an older build of mabi (though not old enough to avoid the annoying OPing of players), ill do a post on that later (mabi.pro). Oh and maybe a mabi moding post.

Shokugeki No Soma

Up front, I dont recommend this anime (though I do recommend the manga). Its not a cooking show, its a shounen battle manga, but with no actual battles, in their stead you get cooking. The cooking is fun, for the minute or half that you get to see it happening.

-STORY-

The story follows the manga decently, though it seems to speed up and slow down at its own pace making me want to skip around (I resisted). I think its because they try to hard to make the cooking LOOK like some kind of action, with weird visuals and other things which overall just ruins the overall feel of cooking in the anime.

-ART-

What can I say, it uses the new standard for art in anime, so it looks good, and has those extended food frenzy moments, but there's nothing super amazing that awes me.

-SOUND-

Again, like with how they do visuals for cooking, they added some kind of concert, or orchestra music that just doesn't fit with the cooking, like they tried to make it seem like a battle action anime. Its kinda annoying to me after the 3rd episode. To be fair it wasn't always like this, at the end of the first episode while talking with his father the music was very nice, and it followed in the beginning of the second episode. After looking back at the episodes I came to a conclusion, they use fast pace or actiony orchestra music when they want to give some kind of feeling of action or battle taking place, and that just doesn't work well into the anime.

-Character-

Theres a wide range of strange characters in this anime, but with 6 episodes in there's very little actually development of characters going on, and to be honest I don't think there will be much if any in the future, aside from possible the girl who almost fails in the beginning.

-ENJOYMENT-

I enjoy and love the F*** out of the manga, and I think ill go read it again today with all this thinking back to it. But the anime was annoying, with how they stretched it all out you rarely get to see much cooking (episode 1 and 2 should have been one episode). That said if you watch the first episode you might understand, you feel like there wasn't much that happened in it, and your right, it felt like you watched a 10 minute episode. But not because you lost yourself in it, but because when you think about it you dont know where those minutes where, there just wasn't enough happening to fill it.

-OVERALL-

The art and sound did not mesh well with one another as this should not have been treated as an "actiony" anime, but as a cooking one. The story and characters works fine, but its not something where I came to care about the characters, or whats happening at all, yes its only 6 episodes so far, but that's quite a few episodes. If it was 3 I can understand not caring even a little about anything, but 6? Overall the anime was all over the place but never where it should have been, like it was having an identity crisis.
